Fire Protection has recently had great success as distributors of MSA’s new G1 SCBA. With sizable orders at the beginning of the new year, Chesterfield Fire, Virginia Beach Fire, Hampton Fire and Rescue, and Hampton Roads Metropolitan Medical Response System have all upgraded their masks to the G1. Virginia Beach evaluated the product for over a year and determined to change over from the Survivair SCBA, a product they had been using for over three decades. Hampton had every firefighter in the department individually use and evaluate different SCBA units and decided that MSA’s is the clear winner. The big appeal for these departments is the advanced electronic system in the G1, an adjustable lumbar pad, and a design that will optimize adaptation to future NFPA and department expansions and changes.
